The annual edition of the popular statistical handbook, “Stainless Steel in Figures”, has been continued for 2017 and has been published on the ISSF website and extranet in English and Chinese. It has the advantage of providing readers with a ready reference source in one book.
Durable, beautiful, safe and hygienic, stainless steel provides an ideal solution in a wide range of urban construction applications – including lamp-posts, barriers, hand rails, art-work and other types of street furniture. Its extended useful life and relatively low life cycle cost make it an attractive option for public authorities who are seeking economical long-term solutions. The ISSF believes that stainless steel is the sustainable solution for street furniture. A new Brochure showcasing contemporary ideas and examples from around the world and giving descriptions of each application as well as details of locations and material suppliers is available from the ISSF website (click here)
A new Brochure has been published on the ISSF website as a supplement to an earlier edition in 2010. The new document details a new case study, from India, where the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association has made excellent progress in persuading the government that there are significant long term benefits from using stainless steel for its railcars. Not only does the added strength to weight ratio of stainless steel provide lighter and stronger railcars, with a longer useful life, but the new range of railcars are much safer for the travelling public than former models. This is yet another example of the progress that has been made in many parts of the world in using stainless steel in railway transport and the ISSF will continue to monitor new developments and publish them in regular supplements.
