The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has released preliminary stainless crude steel production figures which show that 24.6 million metric tons (mmt) of stainless was produced during 2009. This is a decline of 5.2% on 2008.

The food industry has always been one of the major stainless steel consumers, in terms of market share. This meeting intends to deal with the main themes that refer to this kind of applications, in which stainless steel alloys prove to be particularly suitable and effective, thanks to their very high hygienic properties, an essential requirement for any material destined to come into contact with food.

NI consultant contributed 'How to select safe and reliable materials' to a seminar by EHEDG (European Hygienic Equipment Design Group) for the food industry in Cork, Republic of Ireland. It covered the legislative requirements and how stainless steels contribute to both safety and reliability.

The Brazilian Stainless Steel Conference in its 10th edition will next year be held in Rio de Janeiro just in the week after the largest oil and gas industry event in Latin America , Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference . Due to the discovery of huge oil reserves in the called pre-salt area near Rio is our intention to focus the next Conference on subjects related to Oil and Gas but not exclusively.

An article written by Catherine Houska, simultaneously published in two international magazines; it explores the role of stainless steel in such infrastructure projects as train stations, airports and subway stations.
