Euro Inox: Stainless Steel in Shop Fitting
Euro Inox has devoted four new architectural case studies to the use of stainless steel in the interior and exterior of shops and bank offices. Innovative applications include a new free-forming technique for panels, stretch metal in solar shading, the framing of glass tubes to form translucent partition walls and the combination of mirror polished stainless steel with wood in a food store. Case study: Beckton Desalination Plant
The first water desalination plant in the UK, the Beckton Desalination Plant in East London, opens in 2010. It will treat water from the brackish waters of the River Thames, producing up to 140 million litres of clean, fresh, drinking water each day during times of drought or extended periods of low rainfall, or to maintain supplies in the event of an incident at other water treatment facilities.

Case study: Masonry support system at Big Wood School
Big Wood Secondary School in Nottingham is situated on the edge of Bestwood Country Park, with approximately 750 pupils aged between 11 and 16 currently on the roll. As part of the UK Government's Building Schools for the Future initiative, the school is being completely rebuilt.

China Stainless Steel Industry Annual Conference 2010
The China Stainless Steel Industry Annual Conference 2010 was held successfully on June 17 and 18 in Shanghai. Lou Dingbo, the president of Baosteel Stainless Steel Business Unit, will be the new president of CSSC. Liu Cuizhen will be the president assistant. Prof. Li Cheng will be the consultant. More than 170 delegates attended this conference.
Case Study: The Pavilion, Regent's Place
The Pavilion marks the new western entrance into Regent's Place, a 13-acre development in the heart of London which features retail, leisure and public spaces. It is a structure made entirely of stainless steel in which a field of vertical columns supports a roof canopy 8 m above street level.
Stainless Steels Standard and Basic Knowledge Training
The Stainless Steels Standard and Basic Knowledge Training will be held on July 16 in Wuxi. The training was organized by China Metallurgical Information and Standardization Institute, Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association and State Supervision and Inspection Center for Iron and Steel Products. The delegates are from stainless steel manufacturers, distributors and other related companies. We hope all stainless related staff can understand stainless steel standards and obtain better and correct knowledge through this training.
Stainless steel handrails at King Shaka International Airport Durban
The project is a premiere when you consider the stainless steel grades employed. A large proportion of the handrails is made from stainless steel grade 1.4521. Despite the location in a coastal region, the 1.4521 material was chosen instead of 1.4404 - in particular because it led to a major cost saving with comparable corrosion protection.
Case study: Siena Footbridge
Completed in 2006, this stainless steel cable stayed pedestrian footbridge spans 60 m over a busy motorway in the suburb of Ruffolo, Siena, in central Italy. The bridge girders and pylons are fabricated from a 'lean' duplex grade of stainless steel and it is one of the first times this grade has been used for a footbridge.
