Case study: the stainless steel solar facade of a highway maintenance building

This case study demonstrates the practical use of stainless steel in a particular building project. It shows specifically three aspects:

·         Stainless steel helps to turn solar panels into an architectural feature. It makes “green” buildings visually attractive.

·         The relatively low thermal conductivity of stainless steel need not be a disadvantage. If the solar panels are specifically designed for stainless steel, the overall energy efficiency can be exceptionally high.

·         Due to the functional integration of the solar panels, on one hand, and the building envelope, on the other, stainless steel solar thermal panels can also be a particularly cost-effective solution.
