British Stainless Steel Association (BSSA)

General Information:

The primary objective of the BSSA is to encourage the use of stainless steel in manufacturing and construction in the UK and Ireland.

The BSSA operates the Stainless Steel Advisory Service which provides technical advice on the specification, fabrication and use of stainless steel. Since its launch in 2000, the service has responded to more than 30,000 enquiries

The BSSA website contains a wealth of technical information as well as details of the products and services provided by member companies.

 

Members:

The membership of the BSSA covers the whole stainless steel supply chain from raw materials through to finished products.

Members include the major European flat and long product producers, distributors, processors, fabricators and service providers.

Membership now stands at more than 130 companies representing a cross-section of the stainless industry in the UK and Ireland.

 

Other Valuable Information:

The BSSA works in conjunction with its members and other industry bodies to research and develop the market for specific products or applications. For example, in partnership with the Nickel Institute, the BSSA has developed a seminar programme for architects which has approval from the Royal Institute of British Architects as part of their continuing professional development programme.

The BSSA provides education and training, including Starter Workshops for those new to stainless steel and promotion of the Stainless Steel  Specialist Course.  The BSSA also co-hosts fabrication seminars which provide a thorough introduction to working with stainless steel.

The BSSA hosts conferences and seminars on market and techincal issues and hold other events which provide networking opportunities for the industry.
